The Walk To Zennor

One of the most rewarding things you can do during your time in St Ives!

Firstly, it’s important to say that the word ‘walk’ is used very ambiguously here. Over the course of the three hours or so that it takes to travel on foot from Porthmeor Beach to the small village of Zennor, you’ll definitely walk. But, you’ll also be climbing, hiking, hopping and striding at various points along the way.

Whichever way you tackle this seven mile section of the South West Coast Path, be sure to take many moments along the way to observe your surroundings. Rugged headlands and undisturbed bays are lapped at by glistening waves while families of seals swim in the shallows and bathe on the rocks. It’s an invigorating exercise that is rewarding in so many ways, perhaps the biggest reward of all being the unrelenting stream of picturesque views that represent the best of what the Cornish coastline has to offer.

Pack a bag with water and maybe a light snack as it can take up to three or four hours, wear appropriate footwear due to the changing terrain and consider wearing shorts to avoid getting too hot and sweaty on a sunny summer’s day.

Finally, as with any good walk, there’s a fine local pub waiting for you at the end of it. By the time you reach The Tinner’s Arms, the unofficial finish line, treat yourself to well-earned and thoroughly deserved drink.
